IT TAKES EFFORT TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY BODY BUT IT IS EASIER AND CHEAPER IF YOU DO IT RIGHT!
Lose the 2007 weight in 2008!  Or any subsequent year and believe me Time Flies!  (in Latin it even sounds more deadly “Tempus Fugit”)  Almost like why try; “F.. it!”…  Eh?
But for this past year 2007 is gone but we all carried a few extra pounds into 2008!
It is a New Year. Time to lose some weight and get healthy.

Read the whole article, print it out, plus the free Daily Diet Dairy chart (if you're doing the chart, print several). The article recommends a diary, which is something I always recommend for any one I help.

The Diary
The most important life dairy you will ever have and if you want a long healthy life you best do it and start now!                   

Keep track of your Blood Pressure (BP), record anything unusual even regular constipation is a sign something is not right.  Record your weight that tells you pretty quick you are doing something wrong; if it keeps going up.  A diary will help keep you more focused and more careful of foods you will eat.
The diary shows you are serious and allows you to tell others, "Sorry I cannot eat that." or, "This is as much as I can eat!" You are in control.   Record your neck, chest, waist and thigh sizes every 3 months.  This is important because when good things start to happen you feel so much better continuing your improved health style and healthy eating habits.

Why Diets fail?
Eating too much to fast!  I think the major reason why we fail is that most of us eat too much! The volume of food will be directly proportional to the weight gain!   If you keep overeating, you will stretch your stomach and it will keep accommodating larger and larger volumes of food and drink.  .
Later when you want to lose some weight, you will quickly gain it back because your stretched stomach will gladly allow you to eat in excess again. Shrinking the stomach has to be a priority in any weight loss program.
But that is easily achieved by slowing down!  A technique called putting the fork down between full mouths.  Then NOT talking but just slowly chewing and savouring the flavour before swallowing.  Thus technique is called “THE Michele putting down the Fork Technique” named after my wife who discovered this was the easiest ever way to lose weight!   Take a bite out your fork down, chew slowly, no talking, savour the taste then swallow.

Eating too fast. Many of us just eat too fast and swallow before the teeth smash the food and your mouth injects needed digestive enzymes for stomach digestion.  BY talking when eating you are blocking the natural injection of enzymes because the cavity must be closed when eating food.  Then with food missing this vital first step in digestion you then force the stomach to handle a style of food it was never meant to digest.
It fills, stretches the stomach with the volume you eat will for many send you a signal of burping, heart burn, acid indigestion that means there is something wrong!!
Poorly chewed food takes longer to digest and it is very hard on the stomach. It can also be the main cause of stomach ulcers.  This fast eating as I said before also will cause you to lose the nutrients in the food from you poor start of digestion. You will feel hungry soon after eating causing you to eat and stretching the stomach even more.  
NOTE: You now know why we have an eating disorder epidemic.  Parents are setting bad examples by eating fast, serving prepared foods laced with chemicals and allowing the use of excessive amount of salt and sugar into their children’s diets.

Shrink the Stomach
With slow eating you will see the cutting of your portions in half will fill the gap.  And hopefully you will do it with non-fat foods and avoid the whites :sugar, salt, white flour and fats!  Ordinary water is essential to a healthy digestion especially if served warm or hot.  
 Eat slowly. Chew the food at least 5 to 10 times before swallowing. The teeth and saliva start the first stage in digestion by allowing the mouth time to inject necessary enzymes so that the stomach can do its work. The stomach will process the food and not expand or stretch during the process of this slow kind of NO TALKING while eating method.

Note: Your body will tell you when it is full. Learn to listen to it and stop eating at that point! If you are overweight, your purpose is to shrink your stomach so you can keep the weight off. You will be able to eat most foods in the future (small amounts) without gaining weight because your metabolism will be working more efficiently than you ever imagined possible.  You will also derive more nutrition from your foods and have more energy which will help you stay healthy.  The need for supplements and vitamins will all but be forgotten in daily eating.
Rule of thumb: When you are comfortably full just stop eating. No matter what is left over. After eating, drink water. If you want a dessert, eat half of the usual portion; however, desserts are not needed by the body!

Cleanse Your System
Start by cleaning your digestive system before doing any diet.
AVOID the whites:
Sugar
Salt
Flour
White fats
1. Drink water.  Reduce intake of soda pop, alcohol, sweet drinks and those with caffeine!!  Always choose low or no sugar drinks and drink decaffeinated coffee and tea when possible.
2. Drink distilled water for five days, and then wait five days. Do it again during the first month. Repeat if your weight loss is slowing down in the following months.
3. Eat all-bran cereal once a day with two teaspoons of psyllium until you reach your desired weight. You will speed up your weight loss by eating bran and psyllium twice a day, during the weight loss program. Once your weight is reached, keep doing the all-bran with psyllium at least twice weekly.

Note: The best time to get the maximum benefit from the bran cereal and psyllium is just before bed as a snack. Lying prone all night allows this food to do a good cleansing job in the colon.

4. Supplements/Vitamins needed during the cleanse:
Take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 2 drops of cayenne extract daily. For those not using my weekly tonics take 1 B-Complex, 3 garlic per day, and 1 good multi-vitamin twice a week.

Note: Vitamins and Supplements will never replace a healthy diet of food.

Calories. They Do Count!!
Read the labels on food you buy. Ask restaurants or take outs what is the calorie count, added salt and sugar  in their food. Before you eat always think, "How many calories am I eating today?" A healthy male should only consume a maximum of 2,300 calories daily; a healthy female should have only 1,800 calories maximum. Most people reading this have eaten their max in daily calories some time before 5:00 p.m.

Exercise Daily
My suggestion for the easiest all round exercise is two 10 minute walks at a pace of 100 minimum steps per minute.  Your body does not like to sit all day so stand up when watching TV or reading a few times.  Do not become a couch potato.  Our bodies never evolved to be in active!

BMI:
With this article you can calculate your BMI. (body mass indicator) Do it and record your results in your diary. Measure a relaxed waistline and log into your weight watch diary.

Check your blood pressure least twice a weekly (a BP monitor is necessary for everyone I use a wrist type). You will notice a healthy trend here and be more motivated to continue. For those with thyroid problems, take your body temperature once a week and blood pressure twice a week.
When your health returns to the desired level you can do spot checks of BP and weigh ins just to make sure your on track to a healthy way of life.

You are in control and are responsible for what you put in your mouth. So do not blame anyone but yourself for being overweight! This is the time to do something about it! Success leads to a long, healthy life.
